First part : Conversion of files TOD in MPEG-2 standard without loss to the help of the software Converio

1/ Connection of Everio camcorder to a PC via the USB.

1. Connect the camcorder on your PC to the help of the USB.

2. Turn on the camcorder.

3. In the menu which appears in the LCD screen camcorder, select reading on the PC.

   

4. Under Windows Vista, a window " EVERIO_HDD (F:)  » (F: is the letter affected by Windows to hard disk of camcorder) appears by offering you 'What action do you want Windows to do? ". Select do nothing, or close the window.

   If the software PowerCinema is already installed on your PC, the latter will launch automatically when the connection the camcorder. Close then the application.
   New disks must appear in your file explorer ; or a disk EVERIO_HDD (F:) and a new Removable Disk (G:).

2/ Launch and setting up the software Converio

1. Launch the software by double clicking on the icon corresponding, on the office, or by going in the Start menu, all the programs, and then Converio 2.0 Converio.

   

2. Once the software Converio open, go to the Tools menu and then Preferences [Ctrl+P]. The Preferences window is displayed.

   

3. Has the tab Plugins external, in the area multiplexer, check that the line DVDAuthor is properly configured.

   

   Or, for DVDAuthor, the value :
   C:\program files\converio 2.0\DVDAuthor\dvdauthor.exe

4. Always be on the line DVDAuthor, support on the icon located on the left of the diskette, configuration – setup to define the preferences of multiplexing.

   

   Among the document formats available, the formats Generic MPEG2 or Without/None can be used. For the value of the Video Buffer HD, it must be of 2000. Validate by clicking OK.

5. Remember the new settings by clicking on the Validate button.

   The previously described settings are the settings saved by default during the installation of the software Converio.

3/ Import of files in the software Converio

Now we are going to import files via the software Converio. For this several methods are possible, the import automatic or manual files and the import of the complete contents of a directory.

3-1/ Import all files automatically

1. To import all files automatically, select the Import command automatically from the File menu [Ctrl+F1] or click on the icon  . The software Converio will analyze all removable disks and to find all the files .TOD for the import automatically.

   This function is also important pictures JPEG placed on these media.
   The importation may take more or less time according to the number of file to import.

2. Skip to step 4/

3-2/ Import one or several files manually

1. For the import one or several files manually select the Import command a file in the File menu [Ctrl+I] or click on the icon  . A dialog box appears.

   

2. Select files to import (ex : MOV002.TOD) the camcorder (EVERIO_HDD (F:)), and click on the button Open.

   The importation may take more or less time according to the number of files to import.
   A progress bar indicates the progress of the import.

3-3/ Import the complete content of a selected folder

1. To import the contents of a complete file, select the Import command a folder on the File menu [Ctrl+D] or click on the icon  .

2. In the dialog box that appears, select the removable disk EVERIO_HDD, and click on the folder SD_VIDEO, then on the desired directory (ex: PRG00C).

    

   

3. Validate by clicking on the OK button.

4. A dialog box Filters for the import appears.

   

   Has the line Type choose HDD Files HD (*.tod). Check Analyze the sub-directories. Thus, all the contents of the folder SD_VIDEO will be analyzed, including the sub-directories (PRG00A, PRG00B, etc. ),

   The importation may take more or less time in function of the number of file to import, and of the method of import chosen in the preferences (use in priority the normal mode).
   A progress bar indicates the progress of the import.

4/Treatment/conversion of files

1. Once the list of files completely loaded, choose in the Edit menu the command Select any [Ctrl+A].

   For those who have chooses the automatic import it is necessary to delete in advance the photos.

2. In the Processing menu select Copy/Rename [F2].

   

3. Always with the list selected, in the Edit menu select destination Directory [Ctrl+R]. In the dialog box that appears, choose a directory of export to copy your MPEG files. Validate by clicking on the OK button.

   

   Verify that the destination location has sufficient disk space for storing the files.
   For the files TOD, it is useless to apply a correction of aspect ratio ; they are of origin in format 16/9.

4. Select in the Edit menu, Exchange extension [F11], for the file of destination, in the column Destination, door well the extension .MPG.

   

   Each validation of the order extension Exchange [F11] change alternatively the extension of selected files, in the column Destination, as follows TOD->MPG->M2T->TOD.

   You can also click on the icon To change the extension of the selected files.

5. Launch now the conversion of files by selecting in the Tools menu the command Processing of the list [Ctrl+T] or by pressing the button  . It may take more or less time according to the number of files to convert. A progress bar informs you on the progress of treatment.

   The software Converio also offers the functions of classification and archiving. You can create in the destination folder sub-folders in the light of the year, of the month or day of filming of sequences TOD, or complete the name of the original file with the information.
   These settings are available in the Preferences [Ctrl+P] of menu Tools to tab Registration.

6. TO the end of the conversion of files, you can close the application.

Alternative Method for the conversion of files

The software Converio proposes from its version 2.3.9 a method for converting fast.

1. Click on the icon  . At the end of the analysis of removable disks, a dialog box opens.

   

2. In the area Source of the files to convert, choose either in the list Support the disk containing the files to convert, either to the line file the directory containing the files to convert.

3. To the line Type of conversion, choose from the drop down list Copying and Renaming MPEG-2.

4. In the section Destination of the files converted, you set the target location. Click on the icon in the form of folder to select the directory of destination.

5. Click convert to launch the conversion.

   The software Converio will use the parameters set by default (see part 1, paragraph 2)

6. TO the end of the conversion of files, you can close the application.

Second part : Treatment of files converted into MPEG-2 in the software Pinnacle Studio 11 More

1. Run the Studio software 11 More by double clicking on the icon corresponding, on the office, or by going in the Start menu, all the programs, Studio 11 then studio.

   Only the version or higher of More Studio software allows the care of the High Definition.

2. In the Setup menu select Preferences of project. The window configuration Options of Pinnacle Studio Plus appears.

   

   Select the Preferences tab of project. Then, in the area Format of project select set from the first clip of the project.

3. Always in the window configuration Options, select the Source tab of capture.

   

   In the area Detection of scenes during capture video, select No automatic detection. This will avoid that the software will not make a scene analysis unnecessary for this type of file. Then, validate the changes by clicking on the OK button.

4. In the menu Overview, select Edition.

5. In the menu Album, select Video captured.

6. For the import all video files, click on the file import from a different folder.

   

7. Open the folder containing the MPEG-2 files created previously with the software Converio, and then select a file. The software Studio will import all files of the same extensions contained in this dossier. Then, click on the Open button.

   

8. To insert a sequence in the plan of mounting, select a sequence. Then, while now the left button of the mouse supported, move the cursor of the mouse to the Assembly plan. Release, the file is now in the assembly plan. For the other files follow the same procedure.

   You can select several sequences and the move in the assembly plan. They are position in the order of selection.
   Your project will be carried out format 1920 x 1080.

   

9. The next step is to build your mounting.

   To know the various options and mounting capabilities, you can refer to the help topic of the software. For this click Help Topics in the Help menu.

10. Once the mounting finished, you do not have to produce a media to view. Click on the tab Create a film.

    

    The Studio software More suggest by default parameters HD to high quality; either HD 720p (1280 x 720 in 15000 kbps equivalent HD Ready), HDV2 1080i (1440 x 1080 in 25000 kbps recording mode equivalent 1440 CBR equivalent HDV) and HD 1080i (1920 x 1080 30000 kbps recording mode equivalent FHD or FULL HD).

11. To export the mounting in the form of file HD, select in the left banner the tab File. Then select the mode of refund the highest, either FULL HD : click on drop-down list Type of file on the line MPEG-2 and in Préréglage on the line HD 1080i.

    

12. Click Create file. A dialog box opens. Choose a location and a name for the file. Click the OK button, the creation of the file starts.

13. Once the creation of the file complete, you can close the Studio software and burn your mounting.

    If you wish to copy the file resulting from the fitting on a DVD with a view to view from a drive such as the CU-VD40 from JVC, you must use a burning software and create a disc with the UDF format.

Third part : Engraving of file resulting from the mounting in view of the view on a station in engraving at the help of the software Cyberlink Power2Go 5.5 Lite.

1. Run the software Cyberlink Power2Go 5.5 Lite (provided with the recorder) by double clicking on the icon corresponding, on the office, or by going in the Start menu, all the programs, and then Cyberlink Power2Go Power2Go.

2. In the window selection of a task of engraving appeared to the screen, click on disk of data, and then in the type of disk on DVD. Validate by clicking on the OK button.

   

3. In the tree Selection of the source, open the folder (2nd part, paragraph l) containing the file created previously by the software mounting Pinnacle Studio. Select it and import it in the area Compilation of the disc pressing the button Add the files to the compilation Or by selecting add in the menu Edit.

   You can also use the function Drag-and-Move to import your files in the area of compilation.

4. In the menu Engraving, choose the command Burn Disc [Ctrl+R]. The Configuration window/information appears.

   

   In the Data tab, select UDF 1.5 for the file system, which will permit to save files of large size. In the tab burner, click Verify the recording data. Click on the Burn button to start the engraving of disk.

5. Writing to the disc begins.

6. Once the engraving completed, a window bearing the message data Drive : completed successfully appears. Click on OK. The disc tray opens, get the disk and close the application.

7. It is finished. You can now reread the disc on the CU-VD40 from JVC.

   The drive JVC CU-VD40 accepts sequences MPEG-2 FULL HD (1920x1080), HDV (1440 x 1080), HD Ready (1280 x 720) and SD (720 x 576).
